Foodstores
Peter's experience in the Scottish foodstore/supermarket sector dates back to the 1980's whilst at Healey & Baker (before the firm became Cushman & Wakefield), often then undertaking valuation and rent review work for William Low before the company was acquired by Tesco.
Since then, for over 30 years, all of his foodstore lease advisory work has been solely on behalf of landlords/investors, gradually increasing his market share to the extent that, for more than the last decade, Peter has acted for the Landlords in the vast majority of all mid/large scale supermarket rent review cases in Scotland.
Whilst Peter's negotiation skills ensure that, where possible, such rent reviews are successfully settled by agreement, many often require to be determined by a dispute resolver, be that arbitrator or independent expert. Peter has achieved many ground-breaking rents in such instances, and is seen as a formidable surveyor-advocate when representing his clients.
As a result of his considerable experience, Peter's pre-purchase advice is often sought by investors looking to buy supermarket investments, be that single stores or portfolios, and also when looking to re-gear/renew/extend existing leases.
